Thanksgiving

I haven't posted here in awhile. Man, sorry guys haha.

Since the last post:
-I've moved out of the dorm
-Fall quarter of school is over and no school til January 4th
-I got a new camera, nikon d90. Along with a new tripod set :))))
-Gotten hooked on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

Just a quick overview of what's happened. I'm glad I'm out of the dorms. It wasn't for me. Too expensive for not good enouch facilities. Not to mention the people there are just weird and ..... Also my room was a big mess. Literally no floor, I couldn't walk across the room without it being a workout. All thanks to my roommate(s) (you gotta remember my roommate decided to let his gf in the room too). Pretty much everything I didn't want to happen while i was in the dorm happened. -.-

Since last thursday I've been playing Call of Duty MW2. It's sooooo fun for some reason. It's such a simple game yet no one else has made a game like it. It is taking up too much time though.

Today is Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for? Obviously the typical answers are parents, clothes, house, food, etc etc. What else though? Are you truly thankful? Do you act like you're thankful? Is it only on Thanksgiving that you let it known what you're thankful for?

As Christians, we should be giving thanks all the time, good or bad. God gives us everything we have. Without him we are nothing and have nothing. No clothes, no friends, no house, no family, no car, no money, no everything. I was thinking this the other day. God is God, he can do WHATEVER he wants. So it truly is by his grace and love that we live the way we do. Because for no reason at all, God can take it all away without any justification. So truly praise and thank him, in the good and bad times. It's like breathing, how are we suppose to survive if we only breathe every once in awhile? So take this day to stop everything, devote some time to God and thank him for everything that you have because we don't deserve anything, no matter how hard we worked for it. Everything is God.

"Be joyful in all cirucumstances; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

Cheers. God bless

I will be humble, and stay humbled, more humbled.
I won't change who I am for someone else. I know You will provide Father.

Break

Falling Slowly-Glen Hansard

But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You'll make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

This song really touched my soft spot yesterday. Wow such a good song. I donno, something about it. I think it's the "I don't know you, but I want to" part that really hits me because I find myself saying that, or at least in my mind that is.

After winter retreat, I think I'm gonna retire from all church activity other than going to church on Fridays and Sundays. I'm tired. Rather, I think I'll take a break from Immanuel all together for a few months. I feel like I've gotten too close to people and as a result I've gotten a little mean to them, jokishly hit them, prank them, and of course it's all joking, but I gotta set my distance and my limits. I think it'll be a break well needed. To do some "soul searching" ha. I don't think my pastor will like that though. But hey, I don't wanna "crack" and have a Christian faith melt down like some of my friends warned me of. So before that happens, I gotta cool down and rest. Restructure and see what I want to do and how much I want to do it. At the same time find out if I'll stay or go somewhere else. I've always wanted to go to a small church and help build it. Who knows :/ God will guide me.

My old yg pastor from Zion contacted me and asked me to join his "former EM members who've strayed off the path" Bible study. I said sure, but I can't this sunday because of the workload. I'll pray and hope that God stirs something within all of our hearts and bring a permanent renewal in faith.

If you didn't know, I walked into my dorm monday and found a battery grip under my bed for my camera. I donno whose it was, but for that whole week no one claimed it, so I now take possession of it. It's pretty crappy though. Some off brand, 40$ battery grip. Decent ones are at least 80ish, but can't complain if I found it :/ Only problem is is that I don't have the charger for it, but I can get one off Amazon.com

Tired, busy, didn't get too much done today, and bit frustrated.

God help me.

Drinking

here's a picture of me and the last project we did in drawing class. it frustrated me on so many levels. glad im done with it. we're on our final drawing project now. im using pencils, charcoal is just too much for me to handle. hate that stuff.
a lot of people have been asking me lately paticular questions about Christianity. I myself am researching my own questions sort of. One question I get a lot though is being Christian and drinking. The way I take it, DRINKING IS OKAY. Even Jesus drank alcohol. HOWEVER!!!!! it is not okay to drink to get drunk or get drunk, that is a sin. In addition, that does not mean people who can't legally drink should drink. God put those laws in place for a reason. So wait until you are of age, and drink, but don't get drunk.
Ephesians 5:18 "Do not be drunk on winem which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."
Ecclesiastes 9:7 "Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do."
additional scripture on drinking: 19-twenty something, Proverbs 23:29-35, Corinthians 6:12, 2 Peter 2:19.
The Bible supports drinking and condemns it depending on the situation. So those should help clear some stuff.
That's it for tonight.
good night

The World's Weakness

The way I see it, the world is weak. People are weak. They can't seem to uphold what they believe. People always fall victim to corruption, peer pressure, conformity, selfishness. It's rare to see anyone different. It's sad nowadays to know that when someone hears that you've never had sex/kissed/smoked/drank they're surprised. Jesus it's never too soon for You to come.
I haven't done my QT this week. Not yet at least. I will today though, once classes are done. Everything is getting busy with the last two weeks of school coming to a close. I still have to finish a fourth of a project thats due at 2pm today, so I'll work on that once I'm done with my 11am class.

Art School

I really don't know how I'm gonna get through this. Drawing I, project #2 is impossible. It's like the teacher decided to jump from an easy project to an insanely hard one. sigh...
So I woke up this morning around 5ish to go to school and work on the still life that was setup there, but to my dismay someone was working in my spot. That's how it's been, someone's always in my spot so I have to work from a different angle and limit myself to shading and values when I actually really need to work on my outlines and drawing which was suppose to have been done last week. Man, I'm so screwed.

God, be with me. I ask for Your help...somehow.

I've been thinking about transferring. Either to another art school that's a bit more exclusive or another school that has a better focus on photography like Brooks Institute or NYU. SCAD is great, but I feel like they generalize your major too much. Why am I learning how to draw and design when I'm here for photography? At the same time, I feel like if I do leave SCAD for those other colleges I'll lose that creative touch that my school has, and the convenience of being close to home/church.

Tired tired tired. Less than 3 weeks of school left. But I'm left with the most challenging projects yet. 2D design to be more specific. Probably drawing too...my least favorite classes. hopefully I'll find next quarter more enjoyable since I'll have a class in my major, but I'll feel like it'll be too introductory for me since I know the basics of photography already both in skill and art.

Oh well.
All I want right now is some time. time time time.
